Sterling Silver
Keeping your silver looking great is easy... using jewelry cloths and pads. These are best for cleaning and polishing your fine sterling. Avoid chemical polishes on your indian jewelry. Many of these chemicals give unpredictable results. If you must use a cleaner, Windex brand glass cleaner is commonly available and safe for your silver.

Turquoise and other stones
Just a small portion of all available turquoise is of high value. This consists of a very hard stone with an attractive color, hard enough to polish to a brilliant shine, and can be cut in the natural state.

However, even hard turquoise, and other stones, can have deposits collecting in pores on the stone. These may cause a color change, so care should be taken to protect the stones from dirt, grease, oils and chemicals. Remove your bracelets and rings before dishwashing or getting your hands dirty. Also use care with hand lotion, which can change the stone color.

Loose stones
Check your stones occasionally... a stone may get loose after being hit. To tighten it, press down firmly on center of stone with your thumb, then with the edge of any smooth-ended coin, such as a nickel, rub the silver support, or bezel, towards the center of the stone. This will tighten the stone properly.

Why is this necessary?

Pressing your thumb down on the center of the stone is done because most Indian Jewelry is not glued. Instead, these stones are set in sawdust, which helps to protect against impacts. Try to seat each stone in the sawdust using your thumb, before tightening supports.
